"AGORAT"
In my grandfather’s old brick house, the oven of storytelling was always burning hot. He loved telling stories and would narrate many tales stories of strange creatures, endless Turkish legends, and myths of demons and fairies, and more. Listening to these stories, we would travel into the realm of imagination, accompany the heroes of the tales, slay demons, fly on the back of the mythical Simorgh, and rescue imprisoned princes and princesses. After my grandfather passed away, the brick house was left empty. Gradually, it turned into a ruin in the middle of the garden. Yet a trace of those stories still remained in my mind. I knew that these brick shad, time and again, witnessed countless stories and legends, storing them within their hard, silent bodies. This series is an attempt to reconstruct the imaginary, fragmented heroes and characters buried within the bricks bringing them out and presenting them once again.“Ajor (brick) is the Arabicized form of the word Agor.”
