Tehran,
Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, by the Laleh Park, North Karegar Ave.
1 May - 25 June 2023
Hyper-realistic art emerged in the early 70s; although it was never recognized as a full-fledged movement, it was manifested as a distinct, advanced tendency. Obsessively referring to technique and eliminating the artist's individuality in painting, which was criticized from the modernist perspective, turned into the particular feature of the Hyper-realistic art. Meticulous representation of details in works of Hyperrealism has targeted not only the origin of image, but also has raised serious questions about the boundary between representation and visual reality.
Hence, the necessity demands considering and reviewing those artists' works with a new perspective for deeper understanding. This exhibition is an attempt in line with TMoCa's new approach to exhibit its collection of works throughout a research-based process.
