To “Purge” (Emesis) means to consciously induce vomiting to rid someone of that which ails and torments the soul. The act of exposing the irritant agent when it can no longer be avoided or ignored.

In the past, emesis was considered a manual preventative method to purify the body of toxins and impurities to calm and lighten the body.

This is precisely the same life-saving act the artist does with the consequent accumulation of the painful process of observation, experience, and understanding a particular matter; expressing and objectifying the problem into a concrete form or work of art.
