With the participating artists born in different decades, ranging from the 40s all the way to the late 80s, “The List” is certainly a survey.  While it cannot claim to be a full overview, it represents a great number of artists who have made a significant contribution to the medium. The works presented by the featured artists in each edition reflect that drawing and works on paper in general are as dynamic a medium as ever, and that artists continue to consider it an essential vehicle for addressing and interacting with the contemporary world. What makes drawing an easy subject to ponder in everyday life is also what makes it difficult to value clearly in the context of the arts.  With the continuation of such exhibitions at the galley, we hope to establish drawing as independent and a shared visual language of expression rather than etudes or mere sketches for more serious works.

The works presented are valued for their immediacy, intimacy and directness, the insights they offer into the process of the creative act and their fragmentary, incomplete nature.
