Taha Behbahani, theater and television director, university professor, painter, and sculptor, was born in Tehran. The visual arts of Behbahani are known for the figures and paintings of birds. He was born into an art-loving family and learned the basics of painting from his father. Later, he entered the Kamal al-Molk Conservatory and studied art under the supervision of Ali Akbar Najmabadi. After finishing the conservatory, he was admitted to the Faculty of Dramatic Arts and received a bachelor's degree in set design. It was in 1970 that he exhibited his painting works individually in Tehran's Khaneh Aftab(Sun House). He moved to Paris and Salzburg (Austria) to continue his studies and research in puppetry direction. After returning to Iran, he started teaching at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, and in the 1970s, he was the director of the puppetry department of this faculty. In 1981, his solo exhibition was held at the French Foundation. In 1999, his works were displayed in a solo exhibition called "Dream of an Angel" in the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Tehran. In addition, Behbahani has exhibited his works in numerous exhibitions (more than 35 individual and group exhibitions) inside and outside of Iran. A collection of this artist's works was published in a book titled "Taha's Birds" in 2000. Directing more than one hundred and fifty short and long educational programs for television can be seen in this artist's career. Also, two theaters directed by him have been staged in the Shiraz Art Festival. However, he has devoted himself to painting and sculpture since the 60s. His child, Tara, also pursued painting and is a well-known artist.
Behbahani creates allegorical works that are sometimes similar to surrealism. He often uses the lonely, silent bird with eyes on the road as a symbol of man and in a mystical expression in his paintings and figures. His paintings are kept in the personal collections of more than 45 American, French, Japanese, Emirati, Dutch, etc. collectors.
