Reza Yahyaei, painter, potter, and sculptor, was born in Babol. After several years of artistic activity in his hometown, Yahyaei went to Florence, Italy, in 1973. First, he studied at the art school of Michelangelo in this city, then he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. At the same university, he devoted himself to studying interior architecture and received a specialist degree in ceramics. He completed additional sculpture and stone carving courses at the Academy of Carrara, Italy. Later, he completed his doctoral in art at Sorbonne University (Paris 1) and presented his dissertation entitled "Language of Sculpture, Language of Figures, Language of Life." He taught at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts and the Spinelli School of Art. He returned to Iran for a period and took responsibilities in art management and education, Vice-Chancellor of Jundishapur University, and management of the planning and restoration of the Museum of Ancient Iran pieces in Tehran in 2000 and 2001 are among those.
In 1974, Yahyaei exhibited his sculptures and paintings for the first time individually in Sofia Gallery, Florence. Since then, he has held many exhibitions in countries such as France, Italy, the United States, Canada, and Iran. In 2006, a selection of works created by this artist between 1960 and 2004 was published in an exquisite book.
Yahyaei has expressed mythological, literary, and mystical themes in different types of visual and visual art using various materials and styles. In his works, "woman" and "cube" are the central motifs and often appear together. Yahyaei says: "The cube reassures man to logic and rationality. It gathers all the powers of matter and is its foundation and seed. Therefore, I liken the cubes to women's bodies, which are the wombs of life."
