Nasser Palangi, sculptor and painter, was born in Hamedan. He is one of the important painters known as the "artists of the revolution" due to his association with the political movements after the 1979 revolution and his artistic activity on the war fronts and subsequent events.
Palangi began his academic studies of painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Tehran and received his bachelor's degree in 1985. Then he went to Tarbiat Modares University for graduate studies and pursued the field of "Art and Painting Education." He received his doctorate in "Photomedia" from the University of Sydney in 1999 and settled in Australia. Between 1990 and 1999, along with painting, Palangi taught art at the universities of Iran and Sydney and played a prominent role in establishing Soureh and Shahed universities. Between 1980 and 1982, Palangi went to the Iran and Iraq war fronts and created works in painting and photography. During the years of his professional activity, he has won several awards in domestic and foreign events: "Special award for the selected painting in the third biennial of contemporary Iranian paintings, Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Iran," "Obtaining a letter of appreciation for paintings and designs related to Iran-Iraq War, Islamic Art Center of Iran, Tehran, Iran," "Received the award in the 4th "International Emerging Artist Award," Dubai," "Art Act Award for the preparation of photo collages and paintings about the history and heritage of Australia, Canberra." In addition, this artist's works have been displayed in individual and group exhibitions many times inside and outside Iran. Among these, one can hold a solo exhibition of his photo collages under the title "Futuristic Look at the Past" at Anka Gallery, Canberra, Australia, in 2005, a solo photo and design exhibition called "Women during the Iran-Iraq War" at Foyo Gallery of the Art School, Canberra, Australia, the solo exhibition of paintings and photo media titled "Revelation" at the Singapore History Museum and the photo collage group exhibition "Word to Art: A Collection of Modern Middle Eastern Artists" at the British Museum in London.
Rouyin Pakbaz, describing the artist's working periods, writes: "During the war years and until the early 19900s, in his drawings and paintings, with a religious attitude and an allegorical expression, he paid attention to the concept of martyrdom and glorifying the sacrifice and resistance of warriors. The murals of Khorramshahr Mosque were among his most famous artworks of this period. However, since the beginning of the 19900s, he has changed the subject and the way he works, and in his collages, he combines modern men and women with signs of the pictorial tradition and cultural background of Iran.
