Artwork Description

Born in Syria, Muhammad Imad Mahmouk studied calligraphy at the Suleymaniye library in Istanbul from which he graduated in 1990. Back in Aleppo, he had his personal studio at the Al-Sultaniaa mosque. When in 2006, Aleppo was declared a cultural city of Islam, he was entrusted with the design of the stamp published on this occasion.
Muhammad Imad Mahmouk also worked in Saudi Arabia for the King Abdul'Aziz Library, penned a Quran for King Abdullah and drew the Saudi Riyal. Currently, he resides in Istanbul where he continues his work as a calligrapher.
