Mohammad Zahmatkesh, a contemporary painter and artist, was born in Gilan. In 2000, Zahmatkesh received his bachelor's degree in painting from the Tehran University of Art. His first solo exhibition titled "Where are you?" It was established in 2095 in Aria Gallery, Tehran. In 2009, he exhibited his works in the solo exhibition "Dock of Sorrow" in the same gallery. He has held other solo shows in Koushyar Gallery (Rasht), Kuchebagh Gallery (Anzali), Image Gallery (Rasht), and Choom Gallery (Anzali).
Ahmatkesh follows an abstract approach in his work. The works are different from what we know from conventional painting. By exposing metal parts to natural reactions, Zahmatkesh creates textures based on rust. This is the result of the interaction of biological factors and the artist's intention, Somewhere between the will of the artist and the arbitrariness of organic action and reaction. By putting these pieces together, he creates a variety of abstract motifs. These metal pieces are sometimes placed together as slats and sometimes are sewn like a 40-piece quilt. In some periods of his career, he creates figure-like ghosts reminiscent of a specific subject, such as a building, by controlling the range of reactions. Sometimes they evoke a shadow of a natural landscape. Sometimes, they take on architectural implications by pasting and assembling parts such as clones, door handles, etc.
