Mohammad Hamidi is a Coffeehouse artist born in Fariman in 1940. He was one of the last students of Qollar-Aqasi, one of the two founders of the Coffeehouse painting tradition. Although in Mohammad Hamidi's works, you can see traces of this influence, for example in the execution of clothes, unlike the master, he uses more colors, which doubles the decorative effect of his works.
Contrary to his master, Hamidi uses more of the features of Persian Miniature (Negargari) painting. He was interested in painting Qajar portraits and customs, but religious themes taken from the Shahnameh are also visible in his artistic career. Many of his works are kept in Saad Abad palace museums and other significant cultural and artistic centers. Also, the works of this artist were displayed in the third exhibition of the Museum of Contemporary Arts in 1995. In addition to Coffeehouse painting, he was engaged in photography for more than 50 years in his studio located in Mashhad. The works of him and his two other brothers have been printed and published in the book "Sotedelan" and "From Coffee House to Niavaran" by Hadi Saif. This artist has played a significant role in teaching traditional painting to his two brothers. Mohammad Hamidi died in 2001.
