Bonhams is delighted to present these superlative works by the Moroccan artist Mohamed Hamidi. Hamidi was part of the influential Casablanca Group and a founding member of the Moroccan Association of Plastic Arts, influential movements in decolonising modern art in Morocco.

He is known for colourful abstractions and semi-figurative works that evoke both erotic motifs and traditional symbols and patterns of African crafts.

After training at the Ecoles des Beaux-Arts de Casablanca, Hamidi left to France in the 1950s where he lead a bohemian life in Paris. in m1964, he earned a teaching degree in Monumental Art from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and became an assistant to the painter Jean Aujame in his mural studio.
