Hossein Sadri was born in 1958 in Isfahan and due to his interest in art, especially painting, he entered the Faculty of Fine Arts of Tehran University. Sadri has had numerous individual and group exhibitions inside and outside of Iran. He has also directed three short films, published 5 books of his paintings, and managed Amirkabir Cultural Center for six years.
In his early works, Sadri was inspired by heavenly and intangible subjects, which was influenced by the spiritual literature of Hafez's poems. In Sadri's later works, subjects and topics are "earthly and simple, sometimes the obtained works are strange, mysterious and even mystical". Sadri’s source of inspiration for some of his recent works are in his words: "a pedestrian crossing the street, a cracked wall, the screeching sound of a car tire and the marks of the car wheels on the ground, the rustling of grass and leaves underfoot. And the sound of the old door whining when opening and closing. These are the simplest things that inspire the style of some of my recent works.”
