Hayv Kahraman is an Iraqi-American-Swedish artist of Kurdish descent, born in Baghdad. Following the Gulf War, she emigrated with her family to Sweden. She studied at the Academy of Art and Design in Florence and currently lives and works in Los Angeles.

The experiences of war, migration, and forced displacement lie at the heart of Kahraman's practice. Through painting and installation, she explores themes of identity, exile, the female body, and cultural boundaries, combining traditional visual motifs with contemporary techniques to examine the lived experience of migration and the formation of identity across cultures.
