Farah Ossouli was born in Zanjan. She started learning painting between 1347 and 1350 at the Tehran Academy of Fine Arts. Then she entered the Faculty of Fine Arts in Tehran and studied graphics. Finally, in 1979, she exhibited his works for the first time in a collective exhibition at Tehran's Aftab House.
She was also one of the founding members of Dena Group in 2010. A group of Iranian female artists (such as Farideh Lashai, Gizella Varga Sinai, Maryam Shirinlou, Shahla Habibi, Rana Farnoud, etc.) who, in their 6-year career, have had numerous shows in countries such as Poland, Switzerland, Hungary, Holland, Belgium, Germany, and Iran held. The most important of these feats occurred in the United Nations building in Geneva, the European Parliament building in Brussels, and the Ludwig Museum in Koblenz. These artists also exhibited their works in Zanjan, Rafsanjan, Isfahan, and Yazd. In 2003, Ossouli also played a prominent role in organizing the sixth Iranian painting biennial. In 1991, her paintings were displayed in a group exhibition at the Center for Iranian Studies at New York's Columbia University. Her works were shown at Beijing Art Fair Art Expo in 1997 and appeared at Dubai Art Fair in 2018 through Zirzamin Dastan. She has also participated in the ModernParis = Contemporary Art Fair in Abu Dhabi, the Palace of Congress Art Expo, Paris, etc.
At first, Ossouli was engaged in graphic works of illustration. She also has experience in illustrating children's books. From the end of the 1980s, she traces her personal approach to renewing the tradition of Iranian painting. Her work is based on the multi-dimensional spatialization method of painting. Usually, in geometric compositions, she devotes a few parts to traditional motifs (man, angel, horse, tree, twisted cloud, etc.) and covers other parts with decorative textured surfaces. With a narrative tendency in her paintings, she deals with themes such as good and evil, separation and love, and women and mothers. She recreates the decorative nature of the image by using colored sprays on the sides of the frame of her paintings and creates works that are both abstract and rich in representation. It should be noted that some of the artist's artworks are kept in prestigious art centers worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of New York and the Museum of Modern Art in Los Angeles.
