Abbas Kiarostami is an artist who is known for his simple and calm point of view, which is comprehensible through his movies, photographs, or sometimes paintings.
Kiarostami studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Tehran. He has been making movies and graphic designing since the mid-1940s. He also has won prestigious awards in the field of cinema. From the late 1990s, he has made numerous video art and installations and his photographs have been showcased in several exhibitions in Iran and other countries. Kiarostami's first appearance at auctions dates back to April 2006 at the Christie's Auction House. 
Abbas Kiarostami's standpoint of the simplest details and highlighting them is one of the most important characteristics of his works in all three mediums of cinema, photography, and painting. Nature is the main subject of his photographs and paintings. He captures the image in a way that depicts the vastness of nature. He shows the regularity hidden behind the irregularity of nature in a way that makes the audience wonder.
"Putting a mirror in front of the audience to think is the only thing I can do, and I do not intend to offer anything more,” Kiarostami said in his analysis of his own work.
