Takin Aghdashloo Discusses Why Galleries Prefer London in Exclusive Artchart Interview
Takin Aghdashloo, the curator of the exhibition "Nine Works from Iranian Modern Art,” elaborated on the details of this exhibition and curatorship matters in a conversation with Artchart. The exhibition took place from the 9th to the 13th of Khordad (May 29th to June 2nd) at the temporary space of Bavan Gallery in Cromwell Place, London. Featuring works by nine artists including Aydin Aghdashloo, Masoud Arabshahi, Mohammad Ehsaei, Monir Farmanfarmaian, Sirak Melkonian, Ali Akbar Sadeghi, Parviz Tanavoli, Manoucher Yektai, and Hossein Zenderoudi, the exhibition was part of the event "Harmony of Home: Art Practices that Bind Us Together," which was held in London for the third time. Takin Aghdashloo expressed their efforts to showcase a variety of artworks ranging from abstract to figurative, including contemporary calligraphy and Saqqakhaneh school, portraying London as an art hub where galleries are eager to host such exhibitions. Additionally, during our interview, we discussed with him the differences in curatorial practices between Iran and abroad.
