Sahand Hesamian, a contemporary sculptor, was born in Tehran. He spent his academic studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Tehran and received his bachelor's degree in sculpture in 2007. Hesamian's sculptures were first exhibited in 1999 in a group exhibition titled "Artists of Laleh Workshop" at Laleh Gallery in Tehran. In 2005, he participated in the 14th Biennale of Contemporary Sculpture in Tehran, was nominated for the Biennale Theme Award, and won the Municipality Award in this event. The artist's first international experience occurred in Mexico City in 2006, in a group exhibition titled "Sculpture of Iran in Mexico." In 2007, he won the third prize in the first Tehran International Symposium. A year later, he exhibited his sculptures individually at Av Gallery in Tehran.

This artist's artworks have been showcased in the form of group exhibitions in centers such as the Royal College of Art, Verso Gallery (Turin), Third Line Gallery (Dubai), AB Gallery (Lucerne), Villa Empain (Brussels), Adrien Dubouche National Museum, Frame Gallery (Wales), Star Gallery (Düsseldorf), Pera Museum (Istanbul), Triumph Gallery (Moscow), Nara (Japan), Boluk Buyuk Valide Han Art Space (Istanbul), Yorkshire Sculpture Park (England), Karatsev Museum of Contemporary Art (Almaty, Kazakhstan), Nicolas Flamel Gallery (Paris), Parasol Unit (London), etc. In 2014, his works were shown in a solo exhibition titled "Solitude" at the Third Line Gallery in London, and a solo exhibition of his arrangement titled "Soluk" was held in the same gallery in 2013. Hesamian's career also includes participation in many art fairs, Dera Art Fair London by Collectors Editions (2019), London Art Fair by Third Line Gallery (2020), New York Art Fair by Zirzamin Dastan (2021), Art Fair "Asia Now" Paris by Plus 2 (2021) and Art Dubai by Third Line Gallery (2021).

Hesamian is a member of the Sculptors Association of Iran. He has managed the committee of the National Sculptors Association. Membership in the board of directors of the 6th Biennale of Contemporary Sculpture in Tehran and the jury of the 3rd Biennial of Tehran Urban Sculptures have also been other activities of this artist. Perhaps the best description to understand Hesamian's work style and his artworks is in the statement of the "Tavizeh" exhibition written by the artist himself: "A large part of my principles and artworks is devoted to the revelation of the relationship between architecture, Iranian industries, and its spiritual symbolism. I aim to show geometry as the principle of sculpture, giving an independent structure to what is traditionally condemned to be flat. By using geometric shapes reminiscent of Iranian architectural elements and decorations, I aim to engage the audience with their historical past and suggest a new perspective. For example, a contemporary take on the dome using innovative media such as mesh and UV powder makes the work changeable, allows for exploring the interior and exterior spaces, and showcases the multifaceted relationship between modernity and tradition. »

 On the occasion of holding this exhibition, which he was in charge of curating, Fereydon Av writes: "I don't call his works "sculptures" because he does not sculpt in the real sense. However, when the work of art embraces the viewer and surrounds him, the result inevitably goes beyond the third dimension and reaches the fourth dimension (such as works by Richard Serra, Sia Ermjani, Christo, and others.) By watching Sahand's works, geometric Islam art immediately comes to mind. Still, in my opinion, these works are a kind of euphoric and masculine improvisation based on memories from childhood, remembering visiting houses in the south of Iran, the mysterious state and ritual of being surrounded by darkness, penetrated by penetrating lights, and discovering mysterious spaces and turning them into volumes and geometric shapes.
