Hossein Soltani, a painter born in 1978 in Kerman, graduated from the School of Art and Architecture at Azad University. He held his first solo exhibition in 2000 at Afrand Gallery in Tehran. Soltani gained recognition as an artist at the 5th Biennial of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art.
Soltani's works narrate stories of Iranian society in recent decades, marked by nativism and references to contemporary Iranian imagery. His solo exhibitions have been held at Homa Gallery over the years.
Art critic Shahrouz Nazari, discussing Soltani's focus on the "Peykan" car in his works, states: "Despite the overuse of car painting and the depiction of automobiles as cliché and superficial, Soltani remains uninterested in this commotion and is engrossed in his own passion. I have rarely seen him react confrontationally to these trends. He is among those who have managed to break the ice between painting and realism."
