Hoda Hadadi, a celebrated Iranian illustrator, writer, and poet, was born in 1976 in Tehran. She holds a degree in Graphic Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Tehran. Hadadi began her career in children’s illustration by collaborating with specialized children’s and young adult publications. To date, she has illustrated works by many prominent Iranian authors for young audiences.
Her work often centers on women and their narratives, exploring themes of self-reflection and connection to nature. Hadadi is well-known for her use of collage techniques, particularly her innovative use of transparent paper, and her meticulous attention to detail in depicting characters and settings in her literary and visual creations.
Hadadi’s solo exhibitions include “Saffron Tea” (Copenhagen, 2024) and “Thinking of a Home” (Copenhagen, 2018). Over her career, she has published approximately 80 books spanning illustration, fiction, and poetry in Iran and internationally. Notable works include the novels "The Clown" and "Two Friends and the Drummer Girl."
In addition to her contributions to publications such as "Kayhan Bacheha" and "Soroush Nojavan," Hadadi has served as a jury member for various illustration competitions and festivals. Her accolades include the International Book Award (2018), the Gold Medal for Best Illustrator at the Moonbeam Awards (2017), and the Grand Prize at the Belgrade Illustration Festival (2008).
