Ali Faramarzi, an Iranian painter, designer and critic, was born in Tehran in 1950 and started his professional artistic career in painting in 1974. In 1976 and 1979, he received a scholarship consequently from Niavaran Palace and Rome Academy, and in 1979 he received a certificate of appreciation for his artistic activity from Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art.
Faramarzi began teaching art at the Iran-Italy Cultural Association in 1984, and two years later he established his own gallery named "Faramarzi Art Gallery" (1986). The first solo museum exhibition of Faramarzi dates back to 1988, which was held at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art.
During his artistic activity, Faramarzi has participated in more than 90 group exhibitions and 25 solo exhibitions inside and outside of Iran, and has also organized several art lectures and workshops, including: Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art workshop in 2008 and workshop Stanford University in May 2012.
Ali Faramarzi's works were offered in Tehran auction for the first time in 2015. In 2017, he received a first-degree art certificate from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and the Ministry of Science. A book from selected works of Faramarzi has been published in 2020.
